Built between 1060 and 1430, the cathedral was over and over again over the course of the century. You can discover the history of this emblematic religious building of the city of Le Mans during a free or commented visit.

“Christ”, the work of the contemporary sculptor and goldsmith Goudji, the great organs, the celestial concert of 47 musical angels, painted on the vaults of the chapel of the Virgin… If you can, climb to the top of the 64 meter high tower and admire breathtaking views of Le Mans and its surroundings.
 

Did you know?

The Saint Julien Cathedral is one of the largest cathedrals in France. It is 134m long and stretches over nearly 5000m² !

The paintings in the Chapel of the Virgin, made at the end of the fourteenth century, were brought to light. day in 1842 only  because they were hidden by a coating. Very nice surprise!
